The gallery is converted into an ambient zine including one-off prints and installations – the gallery will literally be transformed into a live version of the zine. Limited edition bespoke boxes commissioned by local designers will be on sale – each containing the back copies of Cliché.

The posters Vivek and myself have been working on will be present at the exhibition.

This is my second entry for the exhibition collaboration piece with Vivek.

My inspiration was drawn from gambling chips, playing games of chance for money.

A collaboration project with Vivek for his upcoming exhibition in Dubai.

Cliché in association with Traffic presents "A showcase of Boxes, Prints, Posters and A zine."

Photographic experimentation for the first A1 poster design:

"Hallucination is just a visual dyslexia."
Vivek

The initial concept, to play with the ideas of perception via visual representation. Adding the notion of surgical illness to the concept of visual dyslexia and adding a multi-dimensional impact incorporating many levels of visual communication. By adding the clip to the design as a three dimensional letter form only adds to the drama of the piece and will enable lots of visual play. The next step is to illustrate around the 'a' of the 'hallucination.'

The above exploration has been featured on the amazing Ventilate, a website which discovers and showcases all the latest innovative visuals and conceptual projects.

All in all, i feel it has the desired effect and works well with the 3 Dimensional A of the clip. This design has now been submitted to Vivek, it will be fascinating to see how he applies the finishing touches to this collaboration.

In print, the subtle typography on the left page will be processed with spot UV. In other forms of presentation, i.e. animated gif, ideally i'd like the type transparency to change colour.

The eBook size is yet to be discussed:

"I would love the eBook to be A5 - incase we do print - something small to keep and cheaper to produce. Although, to go the opposite way, we could have massive sheet of paper and do a concertina! That would be amazing. Or even have a booklet A1/A2 size with lets say 4 spreads then the cover front&back and of course would be foldable! (could print on Newspaper Print)"

"We could even incorporate a more interactive approach to the eBook (depending on chosen format), producing a long reel of works, navigation etc."

"the ebook can be about 15 cm by 15 cm in size...and theme wise we could call the project "100 ways to give graphic design a bad name" it kind of contradicts everything...and we can go crazy from there onwards...why don't you randomly work on the typos, random stuff. And i'll do my share of it also...and we'll keep exchanging our files as and when time goes by and keep adding in our own little touch here and there...and alternatively we can keep doing large format posters...A1-A0 or bigger...those can be premium ones that we keep doing while the ebook's up and ready." What are we?

Our aim is to produce collaborative typographical visuals by bringing together our techniques and unique compositional play. This can be achieved in a number of ways:

* one artist begins a composition and the other artist completes
* creating certain treatments individually and bringing them together (without seeing the other artists approach to the subject until the end)
* doing it solo - creating works and not mixing within a composition but then applied into a media format of shuffled spreads

Possible themes:
"From being political...to being raunchy...to being cheeky...to being corny...to being sarcastic...to being well as random as it can be. From illustrating typos of random quotes from people like sartre/lennon/stalin/rimbaud/kerouack...or anything..."

"Capturing conversations, what ordinary people say everyday - and make them mean something more. I wonder how many words we waste a day, what if we only had 250 words to use per day? Would it determine what we do say - would it make us cherish each word, would we waste one of those words on foul language? Would we make sure we told the people we love how much they mean to us everyday incase one day we don't have enough words? What would the world be like - can you imagine how long words would become?"

Who are we?

"I'm a graphic designer, typographer and photographer from Cumbria. I'm always on the look out for new concept driven projects. I was thrilled when Vivek contacted me regarding the innovative design trend - that is - collaboration. Being involved in the Moleskine Exchange project, i know that working with others does create an immense amount of astoundingly unusual creative visuals. Both Vivek and myself are obsessed with typographic forms, and i'm excited to see that even on the logo the different style types are revealing themselves."

"I'm a graphic artist, compulsive doodler and a random stranger from Dubai. I'm quite a sucker for pop surrealism, helvetica, wood boards and fine delicate pens. As i was drifting by one day, looking out for some new adventure...when one such encounter led me to Sarah and i quote Pink Floyd - "Strangers passing through the streets, by chances two separate glances meet"...and before we even knew we started conspiring and our love for typography urged us to become B&C...the rest as they say is OUR-Story ....."
